What a wonderful concert the students put on for Grandparents’ Day. The NEGS Vocal Ensemble put on a stunning performance of ‘All That Jazz’. Not only did the girls sing beautifully they also shimmied with their feather boas. Next we had a fabulous Jazz performance by Eugenie Gullifer-Laurie playing on the piano, a real musical treat. The Chamber Ensemble combined with Saumarez Strings to play ‘Trio’, an excellent performance. Francisca Dugdale gave a very fine performance on the piano playing ‘Triplet Falls’. We finished the concert with our fabulous Year 7/8 students combining with Vocal Ensemble to perform the song ‘Africa’, a great ending to an excellent concert. Well done to all the students for their fine work.

Students are now busy getting ready to perform at the Year 12 Valedictory Service. The Year 7/8 choir and Vocal Ensemble are working together to perform the songs ‘On Top Of The World’ and ‘What A Wonderful World’.

It has been very encouraging to see more and more students throughout the school taking up instrumental lessons. It is lovely to listen to the students practising throughout the music block. If you would like your daughter to take up an instrument, please contact us in the Music Department. We welcome everyone. Please encourage your daughter to join one of the many music ensembles that are in the school.

Yours in music,

Sally Spillane
