Head of Junior School – Week 10

Ms Shannon Rosewood

Holiday wishes

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students and their families for their wonderful support throughout Term 3. As you can see, it has been such a rich and rewarding experience for our students in so many ways, made possible through the support of the School by our families. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the dedicated team of staff in the Junior School who all work so tirelessly to enhance the educational experience for your children.

Snow White Musical

A big thank you to the students, parents and staff involved in making the Snow White musical happen. It was certainly a group effort and the musical team of Mrs Spillane and Mr Oxley are to be congratulated on the quality of the performance.  Mr Spillane’s script was full of laughs and engagement from our youngest students to leading main characters. It was clear that there are some young performers who will be an asset to NEGS musicals in the future.

What did students and parents say?

‘Being a part of the musical was a lot of fun, even the rehearsals!’

‘It was perfect! The smiles on the children’s faces is what it’s all about.’

‘I was thoroughly entertained. The involvement of the whole school made it even better.’

Thank you to our backstage assistance from the NEGS girls and the extraordinary talents of Mr Rose on lights and sounds. A heartfelt thanks to the parents and staff who volunteered to assist with make up, costumes and props. A community effort is what makes the process so memorable and special.

Essential Kindergarten Backpack!

On 19 October the wonderful staff at NEGS Junior School are inviting all parents in the local pre-school community to come along and listen to the leading experts in primary school care, present on what it takes to help navigate your son or daughter through that sometimes tricky entry into ‘Big School’. From 7-8pm parents can find out what makes NEGS Junior School one of the most positive and academically successful junior schools in the region. Refreshments will be available and of course all children are welcome to come along as well.

For more information please contact NEGS on 6774 8700

Congratulations Transition!

Transition received second place in the Mathematics Association of NSW Maths investigation competition. ‘How to discover the bigness’ was a fun and engaging project that explored size. The Transition class measured informally and formally, estimated, guessed, graphed, weighed, counted, made an enormous seven metre cardboard shark and even asked the big kids to help out with one of their puzzling questions. Well done to Mrs McCann, Miss Bec and our youngest learners.

Transition also had a visit from Year 8. Our older students enthusiastically embraced designing toys for our four year olds. Playing with the toys was a hive of activity and laughter. Well done girls. We love when NEGS Senior and Junior schools work together.
