The major fundraising activity for each year is the P & F annual Ball, normally held early in first term, where the Year 12 girls and their parents are the guests. The Ball is well attended by family and friends of the Year 12 girls, parents from other year groups throughout NEGS and many staff members.  The MPC is decorated by the students and P & F members according to the theme for the event.  The evening typically starts with cocktails and the presentation of the girls in their finery with their partners.  This is followed by a superb meal then usually a 'live' auction of major items donated for the night and a 'silent' auction for lots of smaller items.  Then it is time to hit the dance floor!  It is a fun night for the young and old.

Other fundraising events held during the year include the Spring Fair, where the P & F helps raise more money for the school, catering at the swimming and athletics carnivals, the Outer Bald Blair Bull sale and at Open Gardens.  The P & F catering team is well known for its warming soups and steak and sausage sandwiches.

These funds are used to provide extra equipment and facilities for the school or boarding houses, which otherwise might not be provided in the short term by school funding. In 2006 the P & F raised $30,000 and distributed this across the whole school.

The P & F organises liaison parents for each year group who provide a contact point for parents and help to organise social events at appropriate times so that parents can get to know the families of friends of their children. This can assist greatly when students are organising holidays together or special outings in senior years. The P & F provides a conduit for communication between the parents and the school administration and Board and have worked successfully to maintain the NEGS standard.

Meetings are held at the beginning of each term, after boarders' weekends and the swimming and athletics carnivals in an attempt to cater for those parents who have to travel to Armidale and otherwise may not be able to attend.
