Coming up this year is the first of many USA trips! Girls in years 11 and 12
had the opportunity last year to sign up for this trip of a lifetime, with a jam-packed agenda!
As some of you may be aware, our HoD Imti has lived in the U.S for 16 years and has extensive contacts in the equestrian world. As a result, he has collated the best equestrian highlights to offer students the opportunity to participate in a 12 day tour. Imti has put in some very long hours carefully planning all of our stays, visits and transportation while in the U.S.
Fly into Orlando and then drive to West Palm Beach, attending the Winter Equestrian Festival, where 2500 horses from 27 countries compete. Watch the dressage and showjumping Grand Prix and also some high level polo. During the day, there will be trips to FEI level barns and to view the schooling of their horses.
Next we drive to Ocala watching the Million Dollar Grand Prix and visiting some equine rehabilitation centres. Combined with this will be a forum with the U.S. team trainer, speaking to the riders and the team coach.
Following this we drive to Atlanta and see two, three star event courses. The “rest day” will consist of shopping at the outlet malls, and a motivational talk given by the CEO of Chik Fil A.
We will then drive to Kentucky and tour all the best stud farms, the KER Research Farm, the Kentucky Horse Park and Museum.
Next stop Virginia, to see some of the elite training facilities and finally to Washington to put some culture into the trip by sight seeing.
This trip is definitely something for current year 10 equestrians to keep in mind for next year.
Keep in touch with us this year through our NEGS Equestrian Facebook page, always updated with our girls’ wonderful achievements which they deserve recognition for! This year is going to be a fantastic year and these arenas are just some of the improvements planned to expand our excellent school training facility for our talented young horsewoman.
