NEGS Junior and Senior School are inviting you to attend their Book Week Celebrations on Wednesday August 22nd (Week 5, Term 3).
The treasure hunting starts early with a Scholastic Book Fair being held in the library. Students will have the opportunity to preview the fair on Friday of Week 4, 17th of August with purchases being made online or at school (in cash) from Monday through to Thursday (13-16th August). Please feel free to drop in at any time to purchase any books. The library is open from 8am until 5pm on these days. We are aiming to reach $1000 in orders to use the commission to buy new books for the NEGS Library.
Students will be participating in a ‘My Most Treasured Book’ writing competition being held in class. The winners of each year group will have their most treasured book purchased and donated to the library in their name, so that they can share their most treasured book with the rest of the NEGS community.
There will also be a colouring in competition, suitably piratey themed occurring throughout the first four weeks of term, with winners being announced on Book Day. Spare copies can be collected from the Library or classroom teachers.
The culmination of the festivities will occur on Wednesday the 22nd of August. We ask that students come dressed in the pirate theme and to bring a gold coin donation for the ‘Talk Like A Pirate’ Foundation which supports research for childhood cancer. Students in both the Junior and Senior School will participate in pirate themed activities throughout the day and winners of the various competitions will be announced. Students will be treated to pirate themed food by our lovely dining hall and hopefully a great day will be had by all.
Further information will be sent out closer to the date for the specific running of the Book Day in the Junior School.
Yours in scallywag goodness,
Captain Cambridge and Patricia Parrot of the Library Ship.
