The Amazing Year Three
A wonderful group of students have settled into Year Three this year. They have had a very busy and productive start to the term.
In class, Year 3 are studying Anh Do’s picture book The Little Refugee. The children loved Anh’s recollections of his journey from Vietnam to Australia during which the family battled heat, storms, hunger, thirst, attack, loneliness and fear before they found a safe haven in a new country. Once in Australia, they were forced to adapt and learn new skills in order to survive and make a new life.
In response to their study of this text, the children are writing their own memoirs which they are going to share at the assembly in Week 8.
The children have been working very hard during Literacy sessions to develop their reading, comprehension and writing skills. In Mathematics they are developing their Maths Tool Kits that will provide them with a range of strategies for solving problems they encounter during maths activities.
The class is very excited to be heading to Lake Ainsworth this week for the Year 3-6 school camp. Students are looking forward to taking part in a range of activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, rope activities and beach games.
Congratulations on a wonderful start to the year, Year Three.
